TURNED PARTS / THREE INTERFACE DECISIONS
Start with the surfaces that locate, guide or fasten the mating part. These references connect visible geometry to the drawing decisions needed for quotation and sample review.
01Stainless steel main shaft
Identify bearing seats, shoulders and grooves individually. State the datum scheme and any required relationship between functional diameters.
Agree how each specified fit and geometric relationship will be checked. Protect the accepted locating surfaces during packing; retain the drawing revision with the sample record.
02Brass pipe sleeves
A bore and outside diameter serve different mating interfaces. Specify wall section, seating face and whether acceptance applies before or after assembly.
If the sleeve is pressed into a housing, provide the mating geometry and the required assembled clearance. Agree a separate assembly check where a free-state measurement cannot establish function.
03Stainless steel threaded coupling
Define the thread designation, full-thread length and shoulder seat. Include cross-hole edge access and the finish applied to the threaded surfaces.
Align the gauge basis, finish stage and required record before sampling. A thread-gauge result does not establish sealing, torque or pressure performance.

Aluminum / PROJECT PLANNING
Specify the exact alloy and temper. A cosmetic finish, thread fit and thin wall can introduce different requirements into the same component.
Anodizing or another treatment must be specified before final dimensions and acceptance are agreed.

“Stainless steel” alone is not a complete material specification. Describe the required grade, documentation and exposure conditions so the manufacturing review starts from the same assumptions.
Corrosion performance depends on grade, finish and environment. Discuss application requirements rather than relying on appearance.
