Milled components / PRODUCT CASE

Slotted cylindrical part: relate the milled slot to the turned datums

Chengshuo’s CS2024050 source identifies stainless steel and lathe turning followed by CNC milling. The original photographs show short cylindrical parts with a broad slot. For your similar component, connect the slot width, depth and orientation to the turned locating surfaces and seating face on one drawing.

01 / THE BUYING QUESTION

How will the turned locating diameter and seating face define the slot after milling?

02 / READ THE GEOMETRY

Features to define on your drawing.

01

Turned locating features

Identify the diameter that locates the part and the face that sets its axial position. Separate these functional references from surfaces that provide clearance; do not infer a datum system from the photograph.

02

Slot position and orientation

Dimension the slot width, depth and orientation from the required references. If angular orientation matters, show the feature that defines it; a cylindrical diameter alone does not identify an angular position.

03

Intersections and functional edges

Mark edges where the slot meets the cylinder or end face. State where an edge break is required and where the mating function needs a defined corner. Keep burr and cleanliness requirements tied to those features.

to your team?

Define the functional interfaces.

Define the slot’s function and its references before selecting the machining route. Separate component geometry from the performance of a completed valve.

03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW

From geometry to an agreed machining brief.

01Connect the component to the mechanism

Provide the current drawing and revision, mating geometry and installed view. Explain which slot faces make contact and whether the part’s angular position is controlled in the assembly.

02Define the turning-to-milling handover

Discuss which turned diameter and face locate the part during milling and how the drawing relationships will be checked afterwards. Confirm the stainless grade for your component; the source’s general 304/316 examples do not establish this photographed part’s grade.

03Agree sample checks and system responsibility

Specify records for the locating diameter, seating face, slot and edge condition using the same drawing references. Any assembled-valve pressure, flow or leakage test needs its own method, criteria and responsible party.

04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL

Agree the records before the sample.

  • A drawing-linked check of the locating diameter and seating face in the agreed delivered condition.
  • Slot width, depth and required orientation checked from the same stated references.
  • Required edges and cleanliness reviewed; no pressure, leakage or measured inspection result is claimed for the photographed parts.

INSPECTION PLANNING WORKSHEET

Carry one set of references from turning into the slot.

Review the relationship between the turned body and the milled feature as one requirement, including the edges where the operations meet.

Planning worksheet · not a measured report
01Locating body

What to define

Identify the diameter and seating face used to locate the component.

Record to agree

Body dimensions and their common sample and drawing references.

02Slot geometry

What to define

Define the slot width, depth and functional contact regions.

Record to agree

Characteristic-level results against the agreed drawing limits.

03Slot relationship

What to define

Specify how the slot is positioned and oriented to the turned references.

Record to agree

The required relationship check and the measuring setup.

04Intersecting edges

What to define

Define edge treatment and any cleaning requirement at slot intersections.

Record to agree

Agreed edge or cleanliness records, with method and acceptance scope.

CARRY APPROVAL INTO THE ORDER

  1. 01

    Protect functional edges

Agree packing around the slot and locating body to avoid contact damage.

  2. 02

    Keep one release

Link turning, milling and edge requirements to one controlled revision.

  3. 03

    Review scope changes

Confirm any change to material, finishing or required system testing before release.

Published photographs: source and limits

The original company photographs are mapped to Chengshuo’s CS2024050 product page and retain Chengshuo/Corlee marks. The product-specific source identifies stainless steel, then CNC lathe turning followed by CNC milling. Both published image assets show the same slotted-part series; they are not separate customer deliveries or independent inspection records.

The source does not establish a 304/316 grade, measured slot tolerance, surface roughness, pressure rating, leakage result or customer acceptance for these photographed parts. The example is a machined component reference, not a complete valve or a production test report.
