Brass contact pillars: separate the locating fit from the contact finish

These original Chengshuo photographs show a published series of CNC-machined brass pillars with steps, shoulders and different end forms. For your contact part, identify which diameter locates in the insulator, which face sets insertion depth and which surface carries the electrical contact. Agree the finished condition before quoting.

01 / THE BUYING QUESTION

Which dimensions control the mechanical fit, and which surfaces need a specified contact finish?

02 / READ THE GEOMETRY

Features to define on your drawing.

01

Locating diameter and stop face

Mark the diameter that seats in the insulator and the shoulder that stops insertion. Give the mating part and drawing revision; identify clearance sections separately. A photograph does not establish a fit or tolerance.

02

Contact zone and finished dimensions

Mark the actual contact zone, any area to be masked and the condition in which dimensions are accepted. If plating is requested, identify its specification and distinguish pre-finish dimensions from the finished contact dimensions. The source does not establish a plating for this series.

03

End form and part identity

The two photographs show several pillar forms in one product series. Select the form relevant to your drawing and provide a section for any internal opening. Do not use the series photograph as the dimensional definition of an individual part.

to your team?

Define the functional interfaces.

Define the locating diameter, stop face and contact zone separately so the mechanical and electrical requirements remain traceable to the drawing.

03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW

From geometry to an agreed machining brief.

01Define one part and its mating arrangement

Send the current part drawing, revision and mating insulator or connector details. State insertion direction, retention method and any required projection after assembly.

02Confirm brass and surface requirements

Specify the brass grade and material condition for your part. State any plating, masking and cleanliness requirements explicitly; leave unknown inputs marked for review. CNC machining is documented for the photographed series; a Swiss-type route for your part needs its own drawing review.

03Separate dimensional and electrical acceptance

Agree which dimensions are measured in the delivered condition and which documents are required. If contact resistance or another electrical test is required, define the mating arrangement, test method, acceptance criteria and responsible party.

04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL

Agree the records before the sample.

  • A drawing-linked record for the locating diameters, stop face and finished contact dimensions.
  • The agreed surface condition and any specifically requested material or coating documents.
  • Any electrical result recorded separately with its test arrangement; no such result is established for this photographed series.

INSPECTION PLANNING WORKSHEET

Separate mechanical fit from the contact requirement.

Identify locating features and contact zones separately, then connect the material, finishing and inspection requirements in one component brief.

01Locating steps

What to define

Define the diameters and seating features used by the mating insulator or support.

Record to agree

Dimensional readings in the agreed finished condition.

02Contact zones

What to define

Mark the functional contact surfaces and their required condition.

Record to agree

The agreed surface check with the applicable reference.

03Material and finish

What to define

State the brass grade, plating or coating and any masking requirements.

Record to agree

Material or finishing documents required by the agreed order scope.

04Functional testing

What to define

Specify any electrical test, mating arrangement, limits and responsible party.

Record to agree

A separately identified functional-test record when included in the order.

CARRY APPROVAL INTO THE ORDER

  1. 01

    Protect contact surfaces

Agree handling and separation for the specified contact zones.

  2. 02

    Identify the variant

Keep the drawing, finish and part variant distinguishable in each lot.

  3. 03

    Review the next revision

Reconfirm changes to contact geometry, finish or test scope before release.

Define my contact-pillar requirements

Measurement methods, acceptance limits and included records are agreed against your drawing before sampling.

Published photographs: source and limits

The two original photographs belong to Chengshuo’s published brass conductive-pillar series and retain the company and photographer marks. The source specifically identifies brass and CNC machining. It does not identify a customer order or prove that every pictured form has the same material grade or finishing route.

No brass grade, plating, current rating, contact resistance, cycle life or measured dimensional result is established for these examples. Company certificates and general workshop footage are context, not acceptance records for the pictured parts.
