01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
Which collars and grooves establish the assembly position, and what handling protection do their surfaces need?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Stepped body
Identify the diameters that locate or clear mating parts. Define the functional lengths between transitions using the references that establish the assembled position.
End collars
Mark the collar faces that seat or limit movement. Include the mating contact geometry and any required relationship between opposite ends of the shaft.
Narrow grooves
Define groove width, depth and position from the selected references. Provide the mating retainer or other functional detail if the groove interacts with another component.

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Specify copper by the required alloy and condition. Keep any electrical or thermal requirement explicit rather than treating it as a geometric attribute.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Confirm material documentation and protection requirements with the quotation. Separate optional treatments from the basic machined-component scope.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Use the agreed feature references for small groove and collar checks. Retain part identification and material documentation with the sample report.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Explain the interface sequence
Show how the shaft enters and sits within the assembly. Identify the critical contact faces and any installation step that affects access to the collars or grooves.
02Confirm material and finish requirements
Specify the actual copper alloy and condition. Define any required treatment or contact function separately, including the documents or tests needed for those requirements.
03Set inspection and handling scope
Agree the diameter, collar and groove checks for samples. Identify protected surfaces and suitable separation during packing so the receiving team can inspect the features in the specified condition.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Measure functional diameters and collar positions from the agreed references.
Verify groove section and location against the mating requirement.
Check designated contact surfaces and required packing identification.
