01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
Does the bore or bolt pattern establish location, and how is the plate oriented during installation?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Central through-bore
Specify the bore’s locating or clearance role and the mating diameter. Define any required relationship between the bore axis and the seating face.
Repeated mounting holes
Give the hole count, pattern, size and angular orientation. Identify any feature that distinguishes the installed position within an otherwise repeated layout.
Stepped annular face
Mark the contact ring, recess or locating step that seats against the mating assembly. Define which face establishes the measurement reference.

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Avoid leaving orientation implicit in a repeated pattern. Identify the installation reference before assigning position requirements to individual holes.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Compare quotes using the same material, finish and pattern-reporting scope. Clarify the supply of mating components for samples.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Keep the datum arrangement consistent across bore and hole checks. Report actual features rather than a general statement that the flange fits.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Identify the locating principle
Supply the mating flange or shaft reference and assembly section. Explain whether the bore, face, pins or fasteners control position in your design.
02Coordinate drawing references
Review bore, face and hole-pattern requirements together. Specify stainless grade and finish, and agree the reference setup for any geometric relationships that require reporting.
03Confirm part and assembly checks
Select the dimensional evidence needed for sample acceptance. If rotation, torque transfer or another assembly function needs testing, provide its separate specification and responsible evaluator.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Verify the specified bore and seating-step dimensions.
Check mounting-hole locations and required orientation references.
Record nominated face relationships and any separately agreed assembly evaluation.
