01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
Which bore and groove features perform a function, and what mating information defines that function?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Central bore
Identify the required passage, insertion or locating function. Include the relevant bore sections, transition shapes and entry edges rather than specifying only a nominal opening.
External grooves
Assign a purpose to each groove in your design. Where a groove receives another component, provide its specification and the assembled relationship needed for review.
End interfaces
Mark the end face that seats against the mating assembly and any section that enters it. Describe the required stop, clearance and orientation relationships.

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Explain what each groove does before asking for a manufacturing recommendation. The same visible form can support very different mating arrangements.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Keep optional finishing and cleaning requirements visible in the quote. Confirm the scope before choosing a lower apparent unit price.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Link each recorded dimension to the feature being accepted. Keep the sample reference current when the mating component or drawing revision changes.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Document the mating system
Supply the joint and mating-component drawings or a marked assembly section. Separate retention, positioning and any fluid-contact requirements so each has an explicit review basis.
02Review the finished internal path
Define the stainless grade, surface condition and cleaning requirement relevant to your use. Identify bore transitions and groove edges requiring attention, including the method for checking inaccessible areas.
03Set repeat-order references
After sample review, retain the accepted drawing revision, agreed inspection items and any assembly conditions. Revisit those references if the mating seal, retainer, material or finish changes.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Inspect the specified bore sections and entry condition against the drawing.
Measure groove position and section using the agreed reference features.
Check designated end faces and record any agreed assembly evaluation conditions.
