01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
How should every holding position locate the workpiece relative to the machine interface?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Repeated holding positions
Define the workpiece geometry and contact arrangement at each position. State whether all positions share one specification or include deliberately different interface details.
Central mounting features
Provide the machine-side mating geometry and the surfaces that locate the fixture. Identify installation orientation and any fastening access required during setup.
Loading and service access
Explain how workpieces are inserted, secured and removed. Identify replaceable or serviceable elements in your design and the access required to maintain them.

How will tool access, clamping references and secondary features be defined?

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Keep fixture geometry and grinding-process requirements connected but explicit. Identify the machine interface and workpiece references that define the tooling.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Separate fixture manufacture, replaceable elements and process trials in the quotation. Confirm who supplies workpieces and machine access for evaluation.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Report individual holding positions where required. A single overall dimension cannot substitute for a specified pattern or position-by-position inspection.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Document the tooling interfaces
Share the workpiece drawings, machine mounting reference and intended loading sequence. Identify which tooling features establish position before asking for a manufacturing and inspection proposal.
02Define the position-by-position requirements
Assign feature identifiers to the holding pattern. Agree the required relationships to the central reference and any material, finish or contact-surface requirements.
03Separate fixture acceptance from process trials
Plan the fixture dimensional report and loading checks. If grinding results are part of acceptance, specify the machine setup, consumables, workpieces and evaluation method as a separate trial scope.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Check nominated holding interfaces against a numbered feature map.
Verify the central mounting reference and specified pattern relationships.
Record loading checks and any separately agreed process-trial conditions.
