01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
How will the frame be located and supported when opposite-side interfaces are machined and measured?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Open frame envelope
Provide the occupied space and clearance needed within the frame. Identify the external faces that locate the component and any regions with restricted fixture access.
Internal locating features
Mark the surfaces that position the mating assembly. Define relationships between features on different sides of the opening using a coordinated reference scheme.
Machined mating forms
Distinguish finished interfaces from the die-cast envelope. Review machining transitions, contact surfaces and the blank requirements needed for the proposed manufacturing route.

How will tool access, clamping references and secondary features be defined?

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Explain how the frame is supported in the final assembly. Review opposing interfaces together instead of assigning unrelated dimensions to each side.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Keep casting-tooling and machining changes in the same revision discussion. Separate firm order quantities from forecasts when planning tooling or repeat batches.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Document the inspection support arrangement and datum setup. Preserve approved exceptions explicitly so later batches are checked against the same agreed requirements.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Establish support and datum references
Supply an assembly view showing how the frame is installed. Agree the references used to relate opposing features and identify support conditions relevant to manufacturing and dimensional checks.
02Coordinate blank and finished requirements
Confirm alloy, casting supply and tooling status. Review the finished geometry alongside the blank so proposed allowances, machining access and any design changes remain visible in the quotation.
03Create a repeatable handover package
Agree sample dimensions, visual checks and any assembly trial. Retain the approved references and support conditions with the current drawing, then review changes before releasing another production batch.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Check the specified locating features and their relationships across the frame.
Record the support and reference conditions for agreed geometric measurements.
Inspect machined interfaces and document any accepted sample-review exceptions.
