THE PRODUCT CASE / YOUR BUYING DECISION

How should every holding position locate the workpiece relative to the machine interface?

A fixture with repeated holding positions needs a consistent definition across the full pattern. Use this stainless steel fiber-optic grinding-fixture reference to specify the workpiece interfaces, central mounting features and inspection records for your own tooling requirement.

Drawing-led purchasing

Grinding fixture: agree the complete supply scope

Define what each holding position locates

Provide the workpiece drawing and identify the features that contact each holding position. Show the insertion direction, contact surfaces and permitted clearance in an assembly section. State whether the workpiece or a separate insert is supplied for a requested fit check.

Use the same drawing references for repeated locations and identify any positions with different requirements. Name the workpiece version and the features that must remain accessible during loading and removal.

Describe the machine mounting interface

Identify the central mounting features, seating face and machine-side locating references on your fixture drawing. State the usable space, installation direction and any fasteners or mating components that are part of the request.

Show which locating references control the relation between the mounting interface and the workpiece positions. Where access for a tool or clamp matters, supply the relevant envelope and assembly sequence.

Specify the repeated pattern and checks

Provide the number, location and geometry of the holding positions on the controlled drawing. Define the reference system and the features that need recorded measurement results. Agree the inspection method, part support and report format for the actual geometry before ordering.

Do not replace a drawing requirement with a general claim of precision. If a workpiece seating trial is required, name the sample workpieces, procedure and reviewer. Use the inspection requirements guide to describe the deliverables.

State material and delivered condition

The existing photographed reference identifies stainless steel. Specify the required grade and condition for your own fixture and any treatment, finish or edge requirements. Mark dimensions that apply in the final delivered state.

List material and treatment records if they are required for acceptance. Agree cleaning, separation and packing requirements for contact surfaces where those conditions matter to installation.

Make sample and repeat-order scope comparable

Send suppliers the same fixture and workpiece revisions, mounting interface, requested quantity and inspection scope. Identify any separately supplied workpieces, inserts, fasteners or assembly activities. Ask for proposed alternatives and exclusions in the quotation.

Keep the sample decision and released files together for a repeat order. Review the related positioning block and guide pillar as interface references, then send the actual drawings through the machining enquiry.

Questions before requesting a machining quotation

What material is shown in this fixture reference?

The existing product reference identifies stainless steel. Specify your required grade, condition and any treatment on the fixture drawing.

What should I send with a grinding fixture enquiry?

Provide the fixture and workpiece drawings, holding-position pattern, machine mounting interface, material, quantities and the checks required for acceptance.

How should repeated holding positions be specified?

Define the number, geometry, locations and common drawing references. Identify any positions with different requirements and list the features needing recorded measurements.

Can a workpiece fit trial be requested?

Identify the actual workpiece version and supplied samples, installation procedure, acceptance requirements and responsible reviewer. List the trial separately in the quotation scope.

Which inspection records are useful?

Agree the characteristic identifiers, drawing references, measurement methods and sample identity for the mounting interface and nominated workpiece locations.

How are sample quantity and timing agreed?

Include the sample and production quantities plus your target date in the RFQ. The quotation confirms the reviewed scope, requested records and schedule for that order.
