01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
Is the washer primarily a spacer, a contact surface, or a combination of both?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Thickness through the stack
Identify how washer thickness contributes to the assembled spacing. Provide the relevant mating dimensions and distinguish the local washer requirement from the total assembly stack requirement.
Central opening
Specify clearance or location around the mating fastener or shaft. Include entry edges and any permitted relationship between the opening and the outside profile.
Flat contact faces
Mark the faces that carry the intended contact. Define the surface and geometric requirements that matter to seating, including the condition in which they will be inspected.

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Separate the washer drawing from the total assembly tolerance discussion. Identify which interface justifies tighter control before adding requirements across every surface.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Compare the complete delivered item, including finish and packing. A plain washer and a protected finished spacer are different quotation scopes.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Agree where thickness is measured and how face defects are judged. Retain the approved appearance reference if the contact faces are also visible.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Locate the washer in the assembly
Supply a section showing the fastener, washer and mating surfaces. Explain whether orientation matters and whether one or both washer faces form a critical interface.
02Define material and finished condition
Specify aluminum grade and required treatment. If anodizing is requested, review final dimensions and any contact or masking requirements with the finishing scope rather than adding a color note alone.
03Set receiving and packing requirements
Agree a sample check that addresses thickness, opening and face condition. Choose the packing arrangement needed to protect the surfaces and identify lots without adding unnecessary handling steps.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Check the specified thickness at the agreed locations and part condition.
Verify central opening and outside profile against the drawing.
Inspect nominated contact faces and edge breaks before final packing.
INSPECTION PLANNING WORKSHEET
Compare the finished part and its handover.
Make thickness, contact faces, finish and packing explicit so sample approval and supplier comparison use the same scope.
Planning worksheet · not a measured report01Thickness
What to define
Identify the assembly-stack requirement and the locations to measure.
Record to agree
Thickness readings at the agreed locations and finished condition.
02Central opening
What to define
Define its clearance or locating role around the mating fastener or shaft.
Record to agree
The specified opening check tied to the drawing revision.
03Contact faces
What to define
Identify seating faces, required geometry and acceptable surface condition.
Record to agree
Required dimensional or appearance results using an agreed reference.
04Finished condition
What to define
Specify alloy, treatment and any masking or final-size requirements.
Record to agree
The agreed material, finish and sample-deviation records.
CARRY APPROVAL INTO THE ORDER
- 01
Agree packing scope
Compare the same protection, separation and handling requirements.
- 02
Identify quantity and lot
Agree count, lot labeling and the documents needed for receipt.
- 03
Preserve the approved scope
Carry accepted deviations and revision changes into the next quotation.
Measurement methods, acceptance limits and included records are agreed against your drawing before sampling.
