01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
What does the slot or relief achieve, and which surfaces must remain continuous for contact?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Annular contact area
Identify the part of each face that contacts the mating component. Define the required face condition and exclude nonfunctional surfaces from unnecessary cosmetic controls.
Opening and outside profile
Relate the central opening and outside edge to the mating geometry. Show whether the washer clears, locates or sits within another component in the assembled position.
Specified relief feature
Define the slot or relief explicitly in the drawing, including its location and edge condition. Explain its purpose and any required orientation during installation.

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Specify the relief function instead of relying on the product name. Keep seating, spacing and sealing requirements distinct during the design review.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Ask for an itemized scope where special handling or functional checks are needed. Confirm the drawing revision for every sample and order.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Use an agreed view or method for the relief and edge inspection. Keep acceptance of a visible edge separate from any assembly performance decision.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Explain the assembly role
Show the washer in section with the mating components. State whether it provides spacing, access, seating or another function so the review concentrates on the appropriate features.
02Specify brass and surface requirements
Confirm the material grade and finished condition. If the design includes a sealing function, provide the complete interface and test requirement as part of the application review.
03Agree sample handling and checks
Set the thickness, profile and relief checks for samples, then define how small parts will be separated, counted and protected. Include any assembly observation needed for the buyer decision.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Measure thickness and the opening dimensions from the approved drawing.
Check the specified relief location, form and edge condition.
Inspect the nominated contact faces and record any agreed assembly check.
