01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
How will the board locate so every connector sits correctly within its enclosure opening?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Port openings
Dimension each opening from the references that locate the board. Include connector envelope and insertion access, using actual connector drawings rather than a visual cutout size.
Slim housing section
Show the internal assembly envelope and the wall sections around it. Identify areas requiring tool or fastener access and discuss any tight transitions during the machining review.
End interfaces
Define how the end components close, locate and secure the assembly. Include the relationship between the end face, connector positions and any fasteners or locating features.

Milling, workholding and tool access
Machine-interior views show the spindle, cutting tool and held components.
How will tool access, clamping references and secondary features be defined?

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Keep enclosure and board revisions coordinated. Identify connector changes early, particularly where position, protrusion or cable access affects the mechanical package.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Quote the mechanical enclosure scope clearly. List finishing, hardware, packing and assembly work separately when any of those items are requested.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
A dimensional report and a board-fit check answer different questions. Retain both references where both are required for the sample decision.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Build a mechanical interface package
Provide the enclosure model, board outline and connector geometry. Identify the assembly references shared between them and record which dimensions may change during electronics development.
02Review finished fit and appearance
Specify aluminum grade, treatment and visible-surface requirements. Where anodizing is requested, review finished clearances and any masked contact areas as part of the complete drawing scope.
03Check the enclosure with nominated parts
Agree a dimensional report for the critical openings and assembly interfaces. Define a trial fit with a specified board revision and connectors, keeping mechanical approval distinct from electronic product testing.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Verify port opening position and size relative to board-location references.
Check the specified end interfaces and internal assembly clearances.
Inspect required finish zones and record the board revision used for trial fit.
