01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
Can the internal assembly be installed, secured and accessed within the proposed enclosure geometry?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Open box envelope
Define the occupied space of the internal assembly and the access needed to install it. Include clearance for tools, cables and any parts added after the board.
Side cutouts
Link each opening to its mating connector or control. Specify position, clearance and edge requirements using the same references that locate the internal assembly.
Mounting and closure interfaces
Identify the mounting holes and the surfaces that establish the closure position. State fastener specifications and the sequence for securing the enclosure and its contents.

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Identify which enclosure details support service and assembly. Provide separate specifications for any system behavior rather than assuming the housing alone defines it.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Make the quotation explicit about enclosure pieces, hardware and finish. Confirm whether the supplier is quoting parts or an assembly operation.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Inspect cutouts from the same references used by the internal assembly. Track the board and closure revisions when accepting the first samples.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Review the complete mechanical layout
Provide the board outline, external-interface locations and closure model. Mark keep-out regions and any service task that requires the enclosure to be opened or partially dismantled.
02Separate material and system requirements
Specify aluminum grade and finish for the housing. If thermal, grounding or ingress behavior matters, provide those requirements and the assembly-level validation scope for engineering review.
03Agree sample and appearance approval
Select the mounting and opening dimensions to report. Define an assembly trial with identified mating components, then assess visible surfaces and handling marks against agreed cosmetic criteria.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Check mounting features and side cutouts against common assembly references.
Verify specified closure seating and tool or component access clearances.
Record dimensional, visual and any separately agreed assembly results.
