01 / THE BUYING QUESTION
Where should the clamp contact the workpiece, and what machining is required after casting?
02 / READ THE GEOMETRY
Details that shape
the requirement.
Shaped contact regions
Provide the workpiece interface and identify the intended contact areas. State any marking restrictions and distinguish deliberate clearance from surfaces expected to engage the workpiece.
Mounting-hole features
Define how the clamp component attaches to the fixture. Include the fastener arrangement and the references connecting its mounting position to the required contact geometry.
Cast outer form
Separate the blank envelope from the surfaces requiring machining. Mark visible casting areas, machining transitions and any regions where additional blank requirements need agreement.

What matters
to your team?
Define the functional interfaces.
Define contact, movement and loading requirements at fixture level. Use those inputs to select component checks without assigning a clamping rating from the part outline.
Discuss your engineering requirementsMake the quotation comparable.
Separate new tooling, blank supply, machining and finish. Confirm change responsibilities and the commercial basis for repeat batches before placing the initial order.
Discuss your purchasing requirementsAgree the acceptance evidence.
Use the agreed workpiece and fixture configuration for any functional trial. A contact observation should identify the exact setup that produced it.
Discuss your quality requirements03 / A PART-SPECIFIC REVIEW
From feature
to machining brief.
01Review the clamp within the fixture
Supply the workpiece shape, movement and clamping arrangement. Give the application requirements for engineering review and identify which component features will be checked independently of fixture performance.
02Define blank and machining responsibilities
Confirm alloy and blank requirements, available tooling and surfaces to be machined. Agree the location references and any proposed geometry change before dividing tooling and production costs.
03Set component and fixture acceptance
Specify the dimensional and visual checks for the clamp component. If a fixture trial is required, document the workpiece, operating conditions and acceptance criteria with the team responsible for that trial.
04 / BEFORE SAMPLE APPROVAL
Agree what
acceptance will show.
Verify contact geometry and mounting relationships against the approved drawing.
Inspect agreed machined surfaces and casting-to-machining transitions.
Record any specified fixture trial separately from component dimensional results.
