Chengshuo slim aluminum USB-hub enclosure with side connector openings
Aluminum enclosure from Chengshuo’s published CNC-machining product reference.

Choose a reference geometry, then define your own part

An aluminum machining enquiry should identify the component, its drawing revision and the interfaces that control assembly. For an enclosure, these may be the internal envelope, connector openings, mounting faces and fastening positions. For a round part, they may be the bore, thickness and relationship between the two faces. Put those requirements in the controlled drawing rather than relying on a general description.

Our published examples cover different geometries. The slim USB-hub case has an elongated body and connector openings. The TV-box enclosure has an open box form, cutouts and fastening holes. The aluminum round washer is a CNC-turning reference with an annular shape. Use the nearest example to explain the type of component, then supply the dimensions and requirements for your project.

Review housing interfaces before the quotation

For a housing enquiry, identify where a board, insert or mating cover sits. Show the required clearance and the positions of ports or fasteners relative to a stated datum. Add any access requirements for assembly. If the inner and outer faces perform different functions, distinguish them in the drawing notes so the review can focus on the relevant surfaces.

Separate an enclosure requirement from the electrical assembly that will be installed in it. Provide any application-specific verification you want included, with its acceptance rule. If you need a matching cover or another component quoted, identify it as a separate line item and show the interface between the parts. Keep the revision of each mating drawing visible in the enquiry.

State the aluminum specification and finishing sequence

Give the required aluminum designation and material standard. If your drawing allows an alternative, state the approval conditions before ordering. Include any material-document requirement and the intended link between the document, the part and the delivery batch. The precise specification should follow the drawing, not a colour or finish description.

Where a surface treatment is required, specify its type, appearance reference and functional exclusions. Identify threads, bores or contact surfaces that need a particular final condition. State whether dimensions are assessed before or after treatment. If appearance matters, explain the viewing or sample-approval method separately from dimensional acceptance so the two requirements can be agreed clearly.

Make inspection and packaging part of the brief

List the characteristics that decide acceptance, such as mounting-face relationships, opening positions or a mating bore. Define the drawing datum and report format. If you expect inspection against a supplied mating component or gauge, describe that arrangement before sample approval. Distinguish measurements on a free component from checks performed in an assembled condition.

Explain which surfaces need protection during handling and delivery. Housing edges, connector openings and finished faces may need different protection from a plain washer. State the identification you need on bags, trays or cartons, and keep it consistent with the drawing revision and batch reference. These details help define the purchased scope alongside machining and finishing.

Prepare a complete aluminum parts RFQ

Send the current drawing and model where available, the material specification, sample quantity, first order quantity and delivery destination. Identify critical features and any required material or inspection records. Give the target timing so availability and the proposed delivery scope can be addressed in the quotation. Separate expected repeat demand from the first confirmed order.

The enquiry link carries this aluminum page into your brief. Choose the linked housing or washer reference if it helps describe the geometry. Share only drawings you are authorised to disclose and request an NDA first where needed. Agree changes under a clear revision so interfaces, material, finishing and acceptance remain aligned from quotation through sample review.

Procurement questions

Which aluminum parts are the references?

The linked references are a USB-hub case, a TV-box enclosure and a round washer from Chengshuo’s published product catalogue.

Does an enclosure enquiry include electronics?

Describe the machined enclosure and any separately requested items explicitly. Electrical assembly and application tests need their own agreed scope.

How should I specify the aluminum grade?

Provide the designation and material standard from your drawing. Any alternative material must be reviewed and agreed for the actual project.

What matters for a housing drawing review?

Identify the datums, internal envelope, mounting interfaces, connector openings and fastening positions that control the assembly.

How should a finished surface be accepted?

Specify the treatment, appearance reference, protected areas and whether dimensions are assessed before or after finishing.

What determines the quotation and delivery plan?

The drawing, material, sample and order quantities, finishing, inspection scope and delivery destination form the basis of the project quotation.
